PIXELYNX x SPINNIN' RECORDS IN MIAMI

Jun 1, 2023

We partnered up with PIXELYNX, the music metaverse gaming platform founded by Deadmau5 (Joel Zimmerman) and Richie Hawtin (Plastikman), to co-operate with their legendary electronic music label to launch a crowd-sourced remix competition pegged to the release of Joel Corry and Ron Carroll’s new song “Nikes.” Offering a contemporary take on Ron Carroll’s silky smooth “Walking Down The Street,” Corry’s release pairs a succulent and swaggy house beat with an undeniably contagious hook. Prime for everything from the dancefloor and radiowaves to playlists and social content, Joel Corry & Ron Carroll’s “Nikes” released on March 10th  Tiësto’s very own Musical Freedom, with an accompanying music video which dropped on March 22nd.

The remix competition was hosted by CYPHER, a virtual music artist that lives and performs in PIXELYNX’s flagship game ELYNXIR, and is fractionally owned as an NFT by a small community within ELYNXIR. From March 22nd through April 7th, aspiring DJs were able to  compete for the chance to have their “Nikes” remix released on Spinnin’ Records by submitting their work through the PIXELYNX Discord server, where a committee of Spinnin’ Records and ELYNXIR community members voted on their top 5 favorite submissions.

CYPHER’s group of fractional owners on the ELYNXIR platform had the final say in selecting the winning remix, which got announced on Friday April 14th. Both the ELYNXIR community and Spinnin’ fans also had the opportunity to co-create the official music video of the winning remix through a series of quests and challenges within PIXELYNX’s Discord. The final video was premiered at the International Music Summit in Ibiza, Spain in addition to being uploaded on the Spinnin’ Records’ Youtube channel.
