Exclusive interview: New Dance Music Friday with Ku De Ta

Oct 12, 2018

We proudly present the New Dance Music Friday feature, your weekly update on all newly released dance tracks, brought together on one amazing playlist. Featured this week (among many others): Ku De Ta! They are releasing their collab single with Joe Stone titled 'What You Do' (feat. Sylvia Mwenze) today, and talk about the creation of it in this exclusive interview.

Hey, you are releasing your new single 'What You Do' (feat. Sylvia Mwenze) together with Joe Stone today. How did you create this?
"This particular track has been a unusual one for us. It started life with a completely different song written for the backing track, but something just didn’t fit. So we left it for a few weeks, then went back and started fresh. We had a song writing session with Sylvia booked in for another project, which we finished early, so we jumped on this one to get a vibe. The song came together really easily to be honest, the best ones always do. So we recorded the full vocal, and got to work with the longer process of composing, and producing the final vocal track. We then sent the demo to Spinnin' along with a couple of others, but this one stood out for them. From there, our demo was played to Joe Stone, who loved it so much he wanted to make a version adding some of his magic to make it into something even better. When we heard it we just thought ‘Oh Shit’ this is big."

What does this record say about your musical evolution as an artist?
"This track is definitely the most important one for us to date, as it's our first completely original composition. Before we have always covered a song, or used a sample to make the complete track. This is the start of what we hope of our career as the complete production and song writing power house."

The track is featured on Spinnin’s New Dance Music Friday playlist. How important is streaming to you?
"Streaming for us, is by far the most important thing, as it presents the best opportunities to reach the masses, build our reputation, and for everyone to hear our tracks."

Which tracks released this week should definitely be added to New Dance Music Friday?
"Our recommendations for new music today are

Badjokes - ‘Bird'

Deekay - 'Runaway' Lanns Remix

FBOTI - 'Lost Together'

Promised land - 'Found Love'

Glenn - 'You Don’t Know'
