Exclusive interview Curbi: 'My productions are getting stronger'

Jun 7, 2016

Young Brit DJ/producer Curbi has just released his brand new single 'Triple Six' on Tiësto's Musical Freedom. Which is more than enough reason to have a short talk with him about his music, touring Europe and the liberating effect of 'Gecko'.

How about that. Early last year most of us hadn't even heard from then 16-year old Curbi, but after raving hits like 'Discharge', 'Rubber', 'Butterfly Effect' (alongside Bougenvilla) and 'Hoohah' (together with Fox Stevenson), his teenage star is shining brighter than ever.

And see here, at age 17 he has now made his debut on Tiësto's label Musical Freedom with the cool, blazing tune 'Triple Six'. For sure, we had to see what mister Curbi has to say about all this..

Hey there, what have you been up to lately?
"Yesterday I attended my show in Italy, a really cool party called the Apocalypse Music Festival, together with Tujamo and Tony Junior.. Was a crazy show!"

You’re new single ’Triple Six’ is getting huge responses. What can you tell us about this track?
"
Over the past year I've been DJing more and more in clubs around Europe, I wanted to bring something new and exciting to my sets, something which would for sure get people moving..  Yeaah then I guess 'Triple Six' was born haha!"

What does this record say about your musical evolution as an artist?
"You can clearly distinguish how my sound was back when I produced 'Discharge', to now with 'Triple Six', I feel my productions sound a lot stronger now!"

If music wasn't your priority, what would you be working on instead?
"I'm not too sure, before I began making music, I loved learning new languages, that was a big hobby of mine. But I don't know if I would have continued with that. I guess I would
just be exploring life to find happiness.

What has been the coolest thing in your musical career up till now?
"Seeing people move to my music, absolutely the coolest thing by far."

What artists/movies/books/art inspires you the most when creating music?

"The weird thing is, nothing actually really inspires me when I'm making music, I literally just make it. However, as I always mention, Oliver Heldens really inspired me to try something different once I listened to his track 'Gecko'."

What is the most interesting/funny rumor about you?
"I have no idea haha! But if there are rumors, I hope they're all good."

What are your goals for the future?
"Keep working on new music, get to the point where my sets are just all my own music and hopefully sometime in the near future release an album."

And finally, what would you advise the upcoming stars on our Talent Pool?

"Just relax with making music, don't get so fixated on a certain style or certain sound, enjoy making music and you will find your own sound."
