Exclusive interview: New Dance Music Friday featuring EDX

Apr 14, 2017

We proudly present the New Dance Music Friday feature, your weekly update on all newly released dance tracks, brought together on one amazing Spotify playlist. Featured this week (among many others): EDX!  He released his new single ‘All I Know’ this week, and provides the list with some musical tips, and tells all about it in this exclusive interview.

Hey, you just released your new track ‘All I Know'. How did you create this?
"I grew up with early 90s techno and rave music, which evolved very much the last 20 years. I was a techno kid, and I love the synths used in that music. So when I was in the studio I wanted to do something different, more for the club, deeper than the jacking house that everyone knows. When I sent it to Spinnin' they were excited, just what they were looking for! It's sort of a hybrid kind of track, which can be played by underground house DJs as well as on a festival mainstage."

What does this record say about your musical evolution as an artist?
"Well, as an artist you are constantly evolving. Always looking for something new, and this is one of those tracks that simply takes me back to my early days, when I was just getting started and everybody was only speaking of house and techno - there were not a lot of (sub)genres yet. This record resembles that; of course you have to progress in making music, but you should always stay close to your signature sound."

The track is featured on Spinnin’s New Dance Music Friday playlist. How important is Spotify to you?
"It's become a very big thing in the countries where it's available. So, it's very nice to be on there, especially the cool playlists can help a lot to get your record known. That also goes for Spinnin's New Dance Music Friday list, who've been on top of the game since day one. It's good to be there, and I'm looking forward to see where we can go with this track, especially since it's more of a club track. But I feel Spotify is also ready for this now."

Which tracks released this week should definitely be added to New Dance Music Friday?
