Mawi drops the 'CO2'

Jun 13, 2017

After making waves at Spinnin's Talent Pool, French act Mawi delivers its first release on Sander van Doorn's famed label DOORN Records. Following amazing DJ support already, it's official now; here's the 'CO2'!

The Talent Pool has been a significant part of scouting new music for Spinnin’Records these last couple of years. By now, tens of thousands of tracks have been uploaded there, leading to loads of newly discovered artists.

Mawi, from the Mawifamily crew, is one of them. The Mawifamily crew consist of three young electronic music lovers based in Paris; a producer (Etienne Anthony / Mawi), a DJ (Arthur Thimouy) and a DJ/producer (Benjamin Arias / Bjlaa).

The Mawifamily crew already played at different places like La Machine du Moulin Rouge, La Cité de la Mode et du Design (La Nuba), Le Fluctuat Nec Mergitur (Place de la République) and other clubs in Paris.

While presenting his very own 'French touch sound', Mawi made name for itself on Spinnin's Talent Pool, getting noticed with the 'CO2' track, which turned Talent Pool 'Track Of The Week' early 2017.

Since then, the wave grew stronger. DJ support came in from the likes of Tensnake, Martin Solveig, Nora En Pure, Sam Feldt, Danny Howard, Lost Frequencies, The Magician, Fedde le Grand and many more.

Recently, Sander van Doorn picked up the track for a release on his renowned label DOORN Records. Making the triumphal path for Mawi complete, making the future for this French act the more exciting.

"The way I produce music is a bit particular. I make all my tracks by instinct, so when I work on something new, I try many different things until I find the right beat and the perfect melody. Because most of my beats and melodies are made out of 'loops' (from 1s to 30s long) that I cut up as much as possible, I usually come up with something new. So the new track will come out of all those 'loops'. For 'CO2', everything came up by feel. I felt joyful and relaxed on that day, which can be found in the general atmosphere of the track... I hope I make you feel the same whenever you hear it!" - Etienne Anthony / Mawi
