Exclusive interview: New Dance Music Friday with Anjulie

Aug 11, 2017

We proudly present the New Dance Music Friday feature, your weekly update on all newly released dance tracks, brought together on one amazing Spotify playlist. Featured this week (among many others): Anjulie! She released the acoustic version of her single 'Where The Love Goes' today, and provides the list with some musical tips, and tells all about it in this exclusive interview.

Hey, you just released the acoustic version of your single 'Where The Love Goes'. How did you create this?
"I wrote the song originally with my friends Fran Pete and Kyle in LA in the winter. We had a group therapy session and then started writing from scratch. The writing came together really quickly, then Oskar Flood finished the production and sent it to us and we all knew it was something really special. The acoustic version came about really organically. I was just playing the song one night on guitar and came up with a plucking pattern that I really loved and went to the studio and laid down some vocals."

What does this record say about your musical evolution as an artist?
"I've always loved pop songs with sensuality and soul and I feel like this one really encapsulates that."

The EP is featured on Spinnin’s New Dance Music Friday playlist. How important is Spotify to you?
"Spotify is the new radio. It's very important to me. I discover most of my music on Spotify so it's really exciting that my music is starting to be discovered on there."

Which recently released dance tracks should definitely be added to New Dance Music Friday?
"I LOVE the new KSHMR track 'Harder' with Talay Riley. Also really feelin 'Daydreamin' by Joba and Medasin and the Medasin remix of 'Wild Thoughts'."
