Exclusive interview: New Dance Music Friday with CMC$

Sep 1, 2017

We proudly present the New Dance Music Friday feature, your weekly update on all newly released dance tracks, brought together on one amazing Spotify playlist. Featured this week (among many others): CMC$! He's releasing his new single 'Those Lights' today, provides the list with some musical tips, and tell all about it in this exclusive interview.

Hey, you just released your new single 'Those Lights', featuring Stevie Appleton. How did you create this?
"I was on a writers camp with two amazing writers and we just started to jam on the guitar and discussed some nice chords and vocal melodies for the song. Immediately some idea popped up in my head and I started to work this out on my laptop. While the other guys were writing lyrics, I was makin’ the beat. I think we were done in like 3/4 hours.."

What does this record say about your musical evolution as an artist?
"Well, this is something different than what I used to make.. Because of the musical vibes, this song was born. I do think outside the box, and I think that’s good for me as an artist."

The track is featured on Spinnin’s New Dance Music Friday playlist. How important is Spotify to you?
"Since I make a lot of pop music nowadays, Spotify is my most important portal. I want my tracks to be heard and get featured on huge playlists so they discover and notice CMC$."

Which recently released dance tracks should definitely be added to New Dance Music Friday?
"I like 'Sunburn' by DROELOE a lot! It’s something unique and I like that. Some recent tracks what I’m listening to:

Illenium - 'Crawl Outta Love'
Marshmello - 'Silence'
Martin Garrix - 'Pizza'
R3HAB - 'You Could Be'
Unknow Brain - 'Looking For Nothing'
Skrillex - 'Would You Ever'
DJ Khaled - 'Wild Thoughts' (Medasin Remix)
