Exclusive interview: New Dance Music Friday with Autoerotique

Sep 15, 2017

We proudly present the New Dance Music Friday feature, your weekly update on all newly released dance tracks, brought together on one amazing Spotify playlist. Featured this week (among many others): Autoerotique! This Canadian act is releasing its new single 'Brains' together with Brohug today, provides the list with some musical tips, and tells all about it in this exclusive interview.

Hey, you just released your new single 'Brains', together with Brohug. How did you create this?
"We did this entirely over the internet!  With both of our touring schedules over the summer it didn't leave much time to meet up.  We started out first coming up with the drop and building the sound and went back and forth with Brohug about 7 or 8 times I think.  They refined the concept, refined the drums and added some great flavour overall. We are super happy with how it turned out."

What does this record say about your musical evolution as an artist?
"'Brains' is the third track to use a new style we came up with a little while ago regarding drops. Our recent remix for DJ Snake and a remix for Danny L also follow that vein of sound design.  Really cool stuff behind the scenes. I think the drop is also a return to some of our earlier sounds from 2011\2012 personally - 'Turn up the Volume' most notably."

The track is featured on Spinnin’s New Dance Music Friday playlist. How important is Spotify to you?
"Spotify is the "radio" (air quoting myself right now) of this generation, its continuing to outpace Apple Music and be the place where kids find new music.  Spinnin' + Spotify might be the best combination since peanut butter and jelly - unless you're allergic to peanut butter..  Man... If you're allergic to peanut butter you don't know what you're missing. Amazing stuff right there.

We sincerely appreciate the support, in an age where every stream counts - we count on playlists like Spinnin's New Dance Music Friday to reach people and places that haven't heard of us."
