Exclusive interview: New Dance Music Friday with Trobi

Jan 12, 2018

We proudly present the New Dance Music Friday feature, your weekly update on all newly released dance tracks, brought together on one amazing Spotify playlist. Featured this week (among many others): Trobi! He's releasing his first ever EP today, the 'Be Free EP', including lead single 'Set Me Free' today, and talks about the creation of the EP, his music and current favorite new records in this exclusive interview.

Hey, you just released the 'Be Free EP'. How did you create this?
"Actually, I worked on this EP for the last nine months or something. I’m really proud of it and can’t wait for all the feedback and support! On this EP I worked together with Stevie Appleton (from my older song ‘Never Let You Down’), Le Prince, James Francis & Steffen Morrison. My idea was to combine a lot of different sounds in one EP and I think it worked out really well."

What does this record say about your musical evolution as an artist?
"I think you can hear the evolution in my music because I’m trying to combine a lot of influences from other genres, try other sounds and also I’m still using animal sounds in my tracks."

The track is featured on Spinnin’s New Dance Music Friday playlist. How important is Spotify to you?
"Spotify is very important for me, you can reach a lot of fans abroad and they can check your music out because of all those worldwide playlists. Spinnin’ has a lot of big playlists so it will definitely help for the promotion of my and all the other Spinnin’ artists' music."

Which recently released dance tracks should definitely be added to New Dance Music Friday?

"I think you should check out the song 'Contigo' by Maivo, 'WuWu' by Thutmose, 'German Ba$ement' by Abel de Jong & Mr. Polska and '4/5' by Ronnie Flex & myself!"

[Please note this playlist will change a week after this post]
