They're releasing their new single 'Whenever' today, together with The Boy Next Door, featuring Conor Maynard on vocals, and talk about the creation of it in this exclusive interview.
Hey, you just released your new single 'Whenever‘, together with The Boy Next Door, featuring Conor Maynard. How did you create this?
"Last year, The Boy Next Door came to us with the first idea. We immediately liked it and got into the studio to work on it. After that, it was exciting to see if Shakira and Gloria Estefan would give their permission for using the lyrics, but after a couple of months we finally got - we were soooo happy! By then, we'd already checked Conor if he would like to do the vocals, as we already knew him from when we worked together on our hit single 'Are You Sure' with Ty Dolla $ign. Well, Conor was totally up for it, and so 'Whenever' was born."
What does this record say about your musical evolution as an artist?
"We're inspired by the music from our childhood, which we also play live. The original of this track comes from 2001, when we were already starting to DJ. We love this record so much, it's a good example of the crossover sound happening right now - it's the sound we represent."
The track is featured on Spinnin’s New Dance Music Friday playlist. How important is streaming to you?
"Very important. It's one of the most important ways to present our music on a worldwide scale. Thanks to a portal like Spotify we are now performing all over the world."
