Exclusive interview: New Dance Music Friday with Quintino

Aug 24, 2018

We proudly present the New Dance Music Friday feature, your weekly update on all newly released dance tracks, brought together on one amazing playlist. Featured this week (among many others): Quintino! He's releasing his new single 'Heey Ya' today, and talks about the creation of it in this exclusive interview.

Hey, you are releasing your new single 'Heey Ya‘ today. How did you create this?
"The idea actually started during my sets. I was looking for a big anthem to close my sets. Once in the studio I stumbled upon this Haka sample which sounded really big. Then I played around with it and before I knew it, it sounded like a big chant that everyone could sing along during my sets, which happened organically."

What does this record say about your musical evolution as an artist?
"It shows that my starting point for making music has changed, where we sometimes used to focus on streams or radio plays, we now really first look at my liveset to check what I need to bring my show to the next level."

The track is featured on Spinnin’s New Dance Music Friday playlist. How important is streaming to you?
"It's very important, by listening to playlists people are open to listening to new music compiled by a curator, so it's a great way to reach a new audience for artists."

Which tracks released this week should definitely be added to New Dance Music Friday?
"I'm currently only playing my own tracks during my sets, but I like the following new releases..."

Luca Testa & Joey Dale - 'All In My Head' (feat. Philip Matta)

Jack Back - 'Overtone'

Sidney Samson & G-Wise - 'Soldier'

Moska - 'Pantera'

LOUD ABOUT US - 'Kill The Beat'
